2020 Annual Car Show and Go!


The enthusiasm at the Minnesota State Fairground continued to climb for the second day of the Back to the Fifties car show. This show, presented by the Minnesota Street Rod Association. packed this enormous venue with 12,000 street rods, hot rods, customs, classic trucks, restos, street machines, and a few oddball rods that defy any category except cool.

We identified a few trends ot this enormous festival. They seem to love Mercs in Minnesota and we've already shown you a gallery of our faves elsewhere. There is no shortage of Tri-Five Chevys, and late Fifties/early Sixties Chryslers have shown up in surprising numbers. Gassers (another gallery) are popular here and rusto-rods (not rat rods) are patina'd to perfection. Of course, early Ford are in abundance as well and we've spotted some beauties. But what would you expact for a show that draws this many participants? The promoter put the attendance at 11,955 but it seems like 12,000 to us.

In addition to photographing the event, Street Rodder is photographing feature cars to share with you in the future, as well as choosing winners for the Painless Performance STREET RODDER Top 100 program. We'll show you those selections soon. In the meantime, here's a selection of approxmately 100 of some of the great vehicles Back To The Fifties has to offer.
